Philadelphia rapper lojii follows up lo&behold (one of 2020’s best albums) with another stellar ep. The beats, produced entirely by beat maker Absent Avery, are lo-fi and sensuous, continuing the jazz-inflected sound that epitomized lo&behold and has really become lojii’s signature.
One of the warmest piano melodies ever recorded open things up, pulling you in slowly. From here, it’s all jazzy loops and dusty drums, laid back mood music that provides the perfect soundscape for lojii’s gravelly, hypnotic flow.
At just nine minutes, this is more of a teaser than a proper album; but if it’s a sign of things to come, I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
