As the title implies, this compilation from stellar Berlin-based label Habibi Funk Records is indeed an eclectic collection. Spanning 13 tracks, it’s not so much an exhaustive compendium as it is a mixtape of songs the label heads have come to love during their years of digging for obscure and under appreciated music from the Arab world. The result is genre-less selection at its finest. Egyptian organ funk, Moroccan disco, Libyan reggae, Algerian soundtrack music, and political sounds from Lebanon exist side by side on this wonderful collection.
