A lot of the all-time great rap albums are the result of a single rapper and a single producer sitting down together and making magic. Mobb Deep’s The Infamous and the early works of Eric B & Rakim come to mind. While Death & The Musician certainly doesn’t belong in the hip-hop canon, it’s cut from the same cloth – a gritty, cohesive vision from Brooklyn MC on the rise Rome Streetz backed by sparse production from the legendary DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill fame. The result is grimy east coast rap at its finest. Well worth a listen if you’re into that kind of thing.
