More great music coming out of Warsaw, Poland. The name Monsterra stems from the tropical vine plant native to Central America, a region which provides the main musical influence for the band’s debut album, Monsterra Peligro. Rooted in surf rock and cumbia, a folkloric genre and dance native to Colombia but now popular throughout the continent, Monsterra’s music is tinged with elements of dub and imbued with psychedelia and lo-fi production. This fusion of styles makes Monsterra Peligro an album that sounds both retro and new, an engaging listen that’s a bit dark but also a lot of fun.
