The latest release from Portland-based producer Televangel is much more upbeat than his usual material. A former member of prolific production duo Blue Sky Black Death, Televangel crafts evocative, bass-heavy beats that typically hover around the 80 bpm mark. But with Perception Management he flips the script, sampling two earlier ambient projects (We Dream of Drones and Mercury In The Fog) to craft upbeat, danceable music akin to Odesza or Gold Panda. The result is a collection of tracks marked with Televangel’s signature emotive, layered sound that are primed for both the dancefloor and home listening.
