Brazilian music from the 60s and 70s was an incredibly fertile scene, releasing beautiful, esoteric records that still resonate to this day. With Force of the Wind, Belarusian collective SOYUZ have taken that sound and lovingly recreated it with a hint of their own identity. Hazy acoustics and heavy reverb are matched with Brazilian beats and melodies that hold all the trademarks, beauty, and eccentricities of classic recordings from that country.
The album takes us on a journey through the history of Brazilian music—from 60s bossa nova to modern fusions—while presenting a unique sound palette that blends traditional melodies and harmonies with contemporary electronics. Force of the Wind showcases an incredibly talented collective of musicians who show us how to be modern whilst paying homage to the past. This is one of those records that will be on repeat for a long time to come.
