Floating Mountains, the latest album from Tokyo-based producer Soshi Takeda, is some exquisite new-agey, spacey house goodness. The whole oozes cosmic throwback vibes, probably because it was recorded using hardware synths and samplers from the 1990’s. Soshi Takeda is a true master of his craft and this thing is a transportive affair, conjuring visions of a mist-filled Japanese countryside at dawn. The cadence fluctuates on a dime, from uptempo hazy house (“Floating Mountains”) to chugging, airy balearic beats (“Ancient Fish”), but it’s 100% cosmic bliss through and through. If that’s your sort of thing, then you’re sure to dig this one.
